Protect and Deride

I know I'm dreadfully behind the times finding this spoof on the government's recent pamphlet in the "Protect and Survive" stylee, but it tickled me enough to make sure nobody else misses out:

Official site: http://www.preparingforemergencies.gov.uk/
Spoof site: http://www.preparingforemergencies.co.uk/

I particularly like the letter from HMG saying that they
are very concerned that the material on your site will confuse people about the sensitive advice and information that we are giving to the public.
and asking that it be taken down immediately.

How very public-spirited of them.

Wahey! It looks like comments are back in business. I am the HTML master.

hi plig i hope you are well
im amazed that the government wants the site shut down,
because any parody, no matter how confusing,
will get people talking about the message
the government wants to get across,
if not why have they spent lots of dosh
advertising the pamphlet,

Well, perhaps their protest was a subtle ploy to attract even more attention to it.....

Forget the sentimental notion that foreign policy is a struggle between virtue and vice, with virtue bound to win.
Forget the utopian notion that a brave new world without power politics will follow the unconditional surrender of wicked nations.
Forget the crusading notion that any nation, however virtuous and powerful, can have the mission to make the world in its own image.
Remember that diplomacy without power is feeble, and power without diplomacy is destructive and blind.
Remember that no nation's power is without limits, and hence that its policies must respect the power and interests of others.
