Little to say for myself

I'm Here

I've been out of communication for some months (as you can tell). Since my last post, every time I came to think about writing I had no real enthusiasm for it.

I distinguished something about that a couple of weeks ago.

I realised that the reasons I started writing my blog were threefold:
  1. I wanted to look good
  2. I wanted to be right about things
  3. I wanted people to admire me

As a result of an education program I'm doing, in which I'm being trained to look at who I am and what I'm up to in life, I got to see how much of my energy goes into those three things.

I also got to see that, not only do those things not serve other people, ultimately they do not serve me either. All they say about me is that I want to be/look/sound better than you. I'm right, you're wrong. I look good, you look bad. I'm better than you, you're worse than me.

So I give all that up.

I feel really liberated by giving that lot up too. I now feel free just to write stuff. I really get what Gandhi was saying in that quote (above right):

Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it.

There is no significance in anything I write, but I write it anyway.

I will never be able to count the number of people who will never read this stuff, so why worry about the tiny minority who might?

Hello everyone!

Hello Plig. Good to read you again.

Hi Tim, So, if you're not just up to "looking good", what are you up to.
If you fancy some inspiration, then here's someone else who talks about training including the Landmark Forum course you've done.

All the best,

Neale

Forget the sentimental notion that foreign policy is a struggle between virtue and vice, with virtue bound to win.
Forget the utopian notion that a brave new world without power politics will follow the unconditional surrender of wicked nations.
Forget the crusading notion that any nation, however virtuous and powerful, can have the mission to make the world in its own image.
Remember that diplomacy without power is feeble, and power without diplomacy is destructive and blind.
Remember that no nation's power is without limits, and hence that its policies must respect the power and interests of others.
