I'm Here

1. I wanted to look good
2. I wanted to be right about things
3. I wanted people to admire me

As a result of an education program I'm doing, in which I'm being trained to look at who I am and what I'm up to in life, I got to see how much of my energy goes into those three things.

I also got to see that, not only do those things not serve other people, ultimately they do not serve me either. All they say about me is that I want to be/look/sound better than you. I'm right, you're wrong. I look good, you look bad. I'm better than you, you're worse than me.

So I give all that up.

I feel really liberated by giving that lot up too. I now feel free just to write stuff. I really get what Gandhi was saying in that quote (above right):

Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it.

There is no significance in anything I write, but I write it anyway.

I will never be able to count the number of people who will never read this stuff, so why worry about the tiny minority who might?
